AbstractThe Cruise LTES1-10_02 was carried out, on board R/V Mariagrazia, mainly for the maintenance of the buoys S1 and E1, belonging to the network LTER (LTER-Italia) within the Life + Enveurope project and for the monitoring of anoxic events in the northern Adriatic Sea started within the EMMA (Life 2004-2007) project. Bathymetric data were acquired with the dual-head Kongsberg EM-3002D (300 kHz, 400 beams 1x2°, aperture 150°) multibeam system using the software interface Kongsberg SIS for planning while navigation was managed by the PDS-2000 software (RESON), which was linking the DGPS (Fugro) positioning system with the Kongsberg SEAPATH system (MRU). A Sound Velocity probe at the Sonar Head was interfaced directly to the multibeam processor, thus providing the necessary real-time data for the beam-forming. CTD casts (Sea Bird Mod. 911) were used for input of the sound velocity pro?le to the system.
