| Abstract | Description of measurements/samples, purpose for which they were collected, and the platforms/instrumentation and methods in collection RV Lir 2021 Leg 3 Kenmare Kerry 14 metre grid WGS 1984 LAT projection grid. This area was surveyed as part of the ongoing INFOMAR project (formerly Irish National Seabed Survey), a joint seabed mapping project between the Geological Survey of Ireland and the Marine Institute. The scientific aims of the survey were to: (i) Undertake a hydrographic survey to International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) Order 1a standard (ii) Acquire sub bottom profiler (SBP) and magnetometer data to investigate the sub seabed geology. (iii) Acquire ground-truthing data from pre-defined stations in previous year’s survey areas to facilitate seabed classification. A Kongsberg Simrad EM3002 high resolution shallow water multibeam system was used for acquisition of hydrographic data, with a Kongsberg Simrad EA400 singlebeam providing additional depth data. Sub bottom profiler (SBP) data was acquired using a GeoAcoustics Pinger seismic source. Positioning information was provided by C-Nav 3050 Differential Global Navigation Satellite System (DGNSS) and Seapath Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS). QINSy software was used to provide positioning data to the survey sensors. Hydrographic data was processed using Caris Hips software package. Sub bottom profiler data was acquired and quality controlled using Coda Octopus technology. Sound Velocity data for input to the echosounders was acquired using a Valeport Midas SVX2 Conductivity Temperature Depth (CTD) instrument. Please note the following: Following installation of a new vessel positioning system in March 2011, hydrographic data acquired were vertically levelled to LAT using the UKHO VORF Model which is based on ellipsoid height. The Tidal height is derived via the Global Navigation Satellite Systems. Data acquired on the R.V. Celtic Voyager prior to March 2011 (surveys CV07_01_Ocean, CV08_02_OceanEnergy, CV08_01_Belmullet and CV10_SEI) were levelled to LAT using shifts derived from Proudman Oceanographic tidal model. Tidal height was derived using a network of offshore and onshore tide gauges. As such data are on average 0.54m deeper than the more recent VORF levelled data. Statement on the level of data processed and quality control, limitations on reliability See lineage statement for full data processing history. INFOMAR products generated to meet International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) standards to ensure gridded data positional accuracy in the horizontal (XY) and vertical (Z) frame. Arrangement of data Data has been processed and arranged into a NetCDF DTM to Gobe system. Spatial and temporal resolution of data within the dataset Image resolution is a 5m grid. Length of time series The survey was carried out between 26th July and 10th August 2021. Amount of data expressed in number of stations, sites, observations, cores, months of recordings, miles of track or other units as appropriate Bathymetry image is 24 Mb containing Columns (1547) and Rows (1015). Number of Bands 1. Cell Size (X, Y) 14,14 |
