    AbstractThe attached data set reflects the movement of sea surface drifters deployed in the Gulf of Riga September 2017. Presented data are as recorded and/or as sent. Data presents GPS measurements: time utc, latitude, longitude. Service information was removed. Our designed sea surface drifters are plastic (PE100) cylinders (pipes). The cylinder’s height is 100 cm and the diameter is 9 cm. Total weight with a ballast is 6.2 kg. Drifter's draft in water is 70-75 cm. Deployments were done with a motorboat or a vessel. Measurements were started by removing permanent magnet from drifter surface. Usually measurements in drift were made every 2 hours. There are exceptions due to software changes, due to improper manipulation with magnet and failures of real time clock. Each file name consiststs of an abbreviation of the drifter e.g. “Ju9”, underscore and the start date of measurements in format “yy-mm-dd”.
