    AbstractCruise MNG0209 was carried out on board R/V Mariagrazia under the frame of the ADRICOSM-STAR and MED-POL projects in the Montenegro and Albanian coastal and marginal zones, inclusive of Kotor Bay (Boka Kotorska), in the southwestern Adriatic Sea. CHIRP SBP, magnetometric, gravimetric and multibeam bathymetric data were acquired along planned routes or during transits, from the southeastern to northern sectors of the shelf, and the sea?oor was sampled by box-corer and gravity corer in front of the Bojana River and South of Kotor. Hydrological measurements were performed by CTD vertical pro?les (pressure, temperature, conductivity). R/V Mariagrazia was equipped with a DGPS positioning system (satellite link by FUGRO), a Kongsberg SEAPATH system and a Communication Technology NAVPRO Navigation System, interfacing by a MOXA multiserial and Ethernet link several instruments, among them the DGPS by SEAPATH, the Kongsberg EA60 Scienti?c single-beam echo sunder and the Aanderaa 3660 meteorological station. A Kongsberg processor running the SIS software, collected the multibeam data with a 300 kHz, 508 beams 0.5°, 170°aperture EM3002D Dual Head model by Kongsberg. The sonar head was positioned on the ship’s keel using a V-shaped steel frame. A Sound Velocity probe at the Sonar Head was interfaced directly to the MBES processor, thus providing the necessary real-time data for the beam-forming. T, S, and Pressure data collected with the CTD casts were used to provide to the MBES the sound velocity profile. The SIS (EM3002D) was able to build real-time DTM up to a resolution of 2.5 m during the acquisition of the surveyed areas that are identified with the multibeam coverage polygon provided as GML object.
