| Abstract | The Sredetska’88 expedition was carried out under the Bulgarian National Program for regional study of the Western Black Sea basin by Bulgarian Navy Hydrograph Vessel “XK – 401” from 01 to 08 June, 1988. The survey area covers the periphery of the most southern Bulgarian shelf and continues down-slope to water depths of more than 1,500 m. The survey has a reconnaissance character and consists of 25 regional profiles with a total length of about 2,000 km and the principal data set is orientated in WWS–EEN direction with several lines running perpendicularly. The survey was performed by sparker with a linear group of 8 electrodes emitting impulses with energy of 5.0 kJ. It was used 7 m streamer with 27 hydrophone couples connected in parallel. The reflected signals were band-passed within the 70 - 400 Hz band and one second was recorded both on wet-paper Inei-P graphic recorder and dry-paper EPC-4800 one. The average penetration is about 0.7 sec bellow seabed. The echo-sounder investigations were made by NEL-10 echo-sounder. Navigation was undertaken by BRAS radio-navigation system, with accuracy between 75 m and 150 m. The sparker sections are available as scanned images. |
