    AbstractThe Galata’98 expedition was carried out with the Navy Hydrograph Vessel “Admiral B. Ormanov” from 28 September to 3 October, 1998. The main aim of the cruise was studying of the peculiarities of the enchant shoreline situated at water depths of about 120-150 m, so the investigated area was a narrow belt along the shelf break from 90 m up to about 500 m and the profile set was designed in a saw-shape. It was obtined 24 lines with total length of about 220 km. Shallow seismic survey was carried out by “boomer” as sound source and 2 m length streamer with a group of 10 couples of hydrophones connected in parallel. The reflected signals were recorded on a wet-paper graphic recorder “Inei-P” within a frequency range of 480 Hz to 2,100 Hz with a central frequency of about 1,200 Hz. The recorded length was 0.4 sec with penetration of up to 0.250 sec (average 0.2 sec) bellow seabed. The vertical resolution of the boomer sections is less than 0.8 m and the quality of data is very good. The echo-sounder investigations were made by NEL-6 echo-sounder. Position fixing was undertaken by GPS – NAVSTAR navigation system, with an accuracy of near 0.01 nautical miles (about 20 m). Boomer sections are available as scanned images.
